Verification Policy
Last reviewed: September 2026
Our goal is to make the information on hostel listings easier to evaluate. A “verified” or “trusted” signal should explain what was checked rather than imply that a property is guaranteed to be suitable.
1. Property and listing checks
Depending on the property and information available to our team, checks may include the listing's photographs, contact information, address, amenities, pricing information or other submitted details. The exact status is shown on the property page.
2. Institute-level trust
Some properties have a separate institute relationship recorded in our system. When present, the page can show an institute-level trust or ownership signal. This is different from a basic property/listing check.
3. What a verification signal does not mean
- It does not guarantee current room availability.
- It does not guarantee that rent or other charges have not changed.
- It does not replace a student's or parent's own property visit and due diligence.
- It does not guarantee academic, food, safety or service outcomes.
4. Keeping information current
Hostel operators can update listing information. Students should confirm rent, deposit, mess charges, electricity, room availability, rules and facilities directly with the property before making a payment.
